Spreading Love & Hope...

Hello reader,

Summer is starting to wind down and we hope that you will help spread the word about our little parish. We maybe a small parish, but we have a big heart! Invite your friends and family to come see a different way to be Catholic. Send this newsletter to your friends and family as well so that they can see what is going on at Saint Francis.

We believe in equality, inclusivity, and love! All are welcome to participate fully in the life of our parish.

If you want to know more about what we stand for, feel free to read our Parish Covenant located at our Saint Francis Covenant Page.

Blessings!

Bishop Greg

Upcoming Mass Schedules

We hope you will join us for Mass every Sunday at 3:00 PM. We are located at 2321 Lumpkin Road in Augusta, GA.

November 25, 2018 - The Solemnity of Christ the King - 3:00 PM - Mass offered for Edward Bohr and family - Lector: Deacon Dana Godsey - Today’s second reading reminds us that the sacrifice of Christ frees us from sin and makes us a royal nation of priests in the service of God. How am I using my gifts to serve God and others?

December 2, 2018 - First Sunday of Advent - 3:00 PM - Mass offered for the growth of our parish - Lector: Kit Sainte - Today is the first Sunday of Advent, which is also the first Sunday of the new liturgical year. The Advent season includes the four Sundays that precede Christmas. Advent is a time of preparation for the coming of the Lord. In this season, we recall two central elements of our faith: the final coming of the Lord in glory and the incarnation of the Lord in the birth of Jesus. The key themes of the Advent season are watchful waiting, preparation, and justice.

December 9, 2018 - Second Sunday of Advent - 3:00 PM - Lector: Luna Godsey - This week and next, our Gospel readings invite us to consider John the Baptist and his relationship to Jesus. John the Baptist appears in the tradition of the great prophets, preaching repentance and reform to the people of Israel. To affirm this, Luke quotes at length from the prophet Isaiah. John baptizes for repentance and for forgiveness of sins, preparing the way for God's salvation.

Thanksgiving and growth

thanksgiving
This week I was reminded of a very important part of being a church family. Sometimes being a family means that we have to reach out to others and share that family experience. On Thanksgiving Day, we had a chance to do just that. Too often we allow ourselves to become comfortable in the familiar. We like to sit in …

Donations

You might not know this, but here at Saint Francis we do not take up a collection. We believe that when we gather for Mass, we should focus all our attention on the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Stopping to take up a collection diverts our attention from the most important task at hand, spending time with Jesus!

If you would like to donate to our parish, you can do so by leaving a donation in the basket next to the service books in the back of the church or by visiting our website. You can set up reoccurring donations or make a one-time donation at https://saintfrancisoldcatholic.org/support-us/.

As you can see from the link, our site uses state of the art security to protect your financial information from beginning to end.
